Valentines Day

Important Notice Regarding Valentines Day:

This year, our school has decided not to have students exchange valentines in order to follow COVID-19 protocols. Instead of exchanging valentines, students are invited to make ONE card at home to act as a valentine for the classroom community. The cards will be collected by Mrs. Kawohl on Monday February 8th. The cards will be read aloud to the class on Wednesday February 10th and then put on a visible kindness wall for everyone to see.

Some ideas for your card:

  • What you love about our class
  • What our class does on a daily basis to "fill your bucket"
  • Your favorite thing about being in the classroom
Thank you for your understanding!

Last week, we created a caterpillar out of hearts. This was such a great activity because we practiced many different skills:
  • Cutting curved lines
  • Counting the letters in our name
  • Writing the letters in our name
  • Concept of "one more"
The trickiest part was figuring out the number of letters in our name AND then adding one more heart for our caterpillars head.

We were working on the concept of "one more" which means when given any number, we should be able to add one more in order to find the answer.

For example:
  • One more than 5 is 6
  • What is one more than 7? The answer is 8!
Here are the creations:
