- Name Questionnaire due Tuesday November 17th
- Family Photo due Thursday November 19th
This year in Kindergarten, our Inquiry focus is going to be on the question: How do stories connect us to others?
For the next couple of months, we will be focusing on the question: What stories do we have to tell?
To provide a personal context for learning about ourselves, I will be sending home questionnaires and requests for materials throughout the project to help students gain a better understanding of themselves as individuals.
Throughout our Memory Box Project, we will be:
- Drawing self portraits
- Looking at the meaning behind our names
- Exploring photos of our families
- Identifying our favorite activities, people, things, etc...
- Creating a family tree
- Creating a story map to represent our favorite family memories
- Looking at family traditions and artifacts
My first request is that you have a conversation with your child about the following questions:
- Who picked out your child's name?
- What does your child's name mean?
- How did you decide on their name? Is there a special story behind their name?
- Does their name have any personal or cultural meaning for you and your family?
Once you have had this conversation with your child, please click here to fill out this form, Memory Box - What does my name mean?, so that I can access this information as well to facilitate conversations in the classroom. Please complete this by Tuesday November 17th.
My second request is for you to send in a family photo that your child can create an artifact with. Ideally, this would be a photo you do not need returned to you in its original state. If you'd prefer, feel free to email the picture to me directly. Please send in a photo by Thursday November 19th.
Thank you so much for your support with this project!
