Good afternoon,
In Kindergarten, we have been talking a lot about different ways we can represent letters in order to create words, phrases and sentences.
When we do a writing task, students need to:
- Draw a picture to represent the question they are asked
- Use letters to write a word, phrase, or sentence to tell us what the picture is about
This week, we read some stories about winter. We brainstormed activities we like to do in the winter time.
Students drew a picture of something they are most excited about in the winter time.
There is a wide range of writing abilities in Kindergarten right now! Here is what some students are doing in class...
We developed a writing continuum as a class so we can self-assess where we are with our writing.
Here is the criteria we came up with!
You will be receiving a sample of your child's writing before conferences with a self-assessment and teacher assessment! I would be more than happy to discuss these writing samples during Parent Teacher Conferences on December 3 and 4th!
