Happy Monday!

Reminder:

  • No School Friday October 9th or Monday October 12th! Happy Thanksgiving!
  • Picture day is on Wednesday October 14th!

Good afternoon!

We have started learning about the calendar and the difference between days and months. Each day, a new student will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the sentence, "Today is (day of the week, month of the year, day)". For example, today is Monday October 5th. The names are being drawn randomly daily so we have also been practicing patience as we wait for our turn!

We have also learned what a "schedule is" and we have pictures that can help us to know what is coming up next. For example, after gym, we have snack!

We have learned two new songs to help us remember there are 7 days in a week and 12 months in a year.

Feel free to listen to these songs at home with your child! I'm sure they would be excited to explain how the calendar works and this would be a great way to start a discussion about numbers increasing each day (1, 2, 3.. what comes next?)

We have also started creating a class book that goes along with the same pattern as Brown Bear, Brown Bear.

Stay tuned for pictures and the story...
