IMPORTANT SCHOOL ENTRY REMINDERS

Dear families,

We have had a very smooth start to the year! A minor challenge that has come up is related to our drop-off procedure, and we want to make sure that everyone is familiar with our new entry routines, because they are new.

We need your help in these ways, please:

  • This year, we have a ‘soft entry’. In the morning this begins at 7:50. Students should arrive at or shortly after 7:50. We would like all students to try to be inside the school by 7:55, please. The 7:58 bell means ‘start learning in your classroom’, not ‘enter the school now’. In the afternoon the 'soft entry' for the afternoon Kindergarten begins at 11:35. We would like afternoon Kindergarten students to be in the building by 11:40. The afternoon start learning time is 11:43.
  • Families who walk or drive:
    • Ensure that students arrive early enough so that they have entered the school between 7:50 and 7:55. (Afternoon Kindergarten 11:35 to 11:40). The bell at 7:58 in the morning and 11:43 in the afternoon should signal the start of learning time. Please don’t wait in the car for the 7:58 bell or the 11:43 start time. School doors should be closed at 7:58 in the morning and 11:43 in the afternoon, and teachers begin teaching.
  • If you could please do your best to be on time and avoid late arrivals, that also helps us to promote physical distancing as students enter. Late students must check in at the office, which can cause challenges with distancing.
  • Please remind your student that if they arrive and the classroom doors are closed, they should come to the front doors and into the office, because they are likely late. Teachers are doing extra checks outside to make sure all students have entered the school.

Following this plan will help our teachers ensure safe entry, complete attendance, and begin the work of the day with students as close to 7:58 as possible.

Thank you so much for your support keeping our staff and students safe and cared for! We are most successful when we work together!
