OUR FIRST WEEK WAS FANTASTIC!👍😊💖

Kindergarten had a great first week learning classroom routines in small learning groups. We hope you enjoy a few highlights from our time together this week.

LEARNING CENTRES

Students enjoyed experimenting with classroom materials during Learning Centres. They worked with a variety of building materials, sorting blocks, and sculpted with play dough while getting to know their classmates. We wore our masks while we played close to our new friends. Kindergarten learning materials are used by either the Morning or Afternoon class only. Any items that are shared will be cleaned using health protocols before they are rotated between cohorts. As we learned our new routines, additional centres were opened to the students and will continue to be shared in the coming weeks.

SELF-PORTRAITS

After listening to a funny story we drew a picture of ourself using our new thinking pens so that we could learn about each other! We added extra details about things we like such as foods we like or our favourite toys. Some students looked at themselves in the mirror to add details to their work. Looking at what we want to draw is very helpful. Some students wrote their names and others learned that arms and legs have two sides and need two lines instead of one stick so we don't fall over! LOL

TIDBITS & INFORMATION ITEMS

KINDERGARTEN SNACKS
One small healthy snack that can fit in your child's hand and can be eaten in about 5 minutes is the perfect size for Kindergarten. Kindergarten students are not required to bring a full size lunch kit unless they remain in the school for before or after school care. Having your child participate in placing their small snack in a small pocket on their backpack provides easy access for more time at learning centres.

CONVERSATION STARTERS

  1. What feelings do the colours red and blue make you think of?
  2. What was the best thing about school this week? Why?
  3. Show me the steps for excellent hand washing that you learned this week. What part do lots of people forget? Ooopsy
