We have started looking at what a community is!
First, we used Google Earth to look at Cambrian Heights from a satellite camera! Then we explored the neighborhood and found: a playground, pedestrian crosswalk, bus stop, gas station, roads, cars, baseball diamond, soccer fields, etc...

We have watched a few videos and then brainstormed different things we see in our communities.
We have had many classroom discussions about some of the places we have been to or seen in our communities such as playgrounds, police stations, dentist office, fire hall, library, gas station, supermarket.
We talked about how a community is a place or thing that brings people together!
Students recorded their ideas of what they see in their communities in their visual journals!
