Recently, we have been working on the properties of 2D shapes. Today we showed Mrs. Kawohl what we know about shapes! We used triangles, circles, hexagons, squares, rectangles, diamonds/rhombuses, and trapezoids to solve a problem!
Students were given one of two questions to solve:
- I have 2 shapes in a basket that add up to 8 sides. What shapes could they be?
- I have 3 shapes in a basket that add up to 12 sides. What shapes could they be?
Here are a few examples that clearly show the students thinking process as they worked to determine what shapes combinations could work!
Find shapes around the house. How many sides does each shape have?
