Reminders:
- AM Kindergarten attends school tomorrow (Friday November 6)
- NO SCHOOL Wednesday November 11th for Remembrance Day
Good afternoon!
This week, we have been learning a LOT about Remembrance Day. We have been talking a lot about what peace is, and what it means to us.
We read two stories to help us understand why people wear poppies:
- A Poppy Is to Remember by Ron Lightburn and Heather Patterson
- Proud as a Peacock, Brave as a Lion by Jane Barclay
Feel free to watch these videos at home with your child so they can hear the stories again and share their knowledge with you!
Questions to ask your child:
- What does peace mean to you?
- Why do we wear poppies?
- How can we remember the people we have lost?
We have also been creating our own poppies with rip art and loose parts! On Tuesday, one of the classes in our school is going to be doing a virtual assembly for us. We will learn a lot more about Remembrance Day from other kids in the school too!
We also learned a poem to help us remember why poppies are important to us.
Have a wonderful evening and weekend!
