It was Earth Day yesterday! Since the weather wasn't too nice yesterday, we went outside on Wednesday with the Grade 3/4's to plant two seeds (socially distanced of course).

Mrs. Kawohl also read a story to all the students called "The Earth Book" by Todd Parr. We discussed different things we can find in trees, water, the sky and ways we can protect our environment.

The first seed we planted was the Prunella flower, which is Indigenous to North America. Each student at Cambrian Heights School got to plant one of these seeds to take home and plant in their garden!

The second seed we planted was a Sugar Pea. We will be keeping these plants at school for the next few weeks to observe how our plant grows!

We learned that plants need 5 things in order to grow: sun, water, air, space and soil.

We also learned all about the life cycle of a plant!

Students were tasked with watching an informational video and then drawing out the 5 steps of the plant life cycle.

We read the story "10 Things I an Do to Help My World" by Melanie Walsh. Students did some marble art in order to create their own "Earth". Then, they each worked on writing sentences using finger spaces and a period in order to share an idea about what they can do to help our world.
