Good afternoon,

Here is an update on what we have been learning about this week!

We learned about the Letters C and O when Mrs. Kawohl was away earlier this week!

You can practice the letters at home with these worksheets:

Here is some vocabulary to go with each letter as well:

We also read the story, A Porcupine in a Pine Tree, by Helaine Becker and Werner ZImmermann.  You can read the story here on YouTube:

Writing Prompt: If you had a tree, what animal would you want to find in it?

We brainstormed different types of trees that we could draw. We also brainstormed different types of animals we could draw in our trees (don't mind my terrible drawings - ha!)

Here are some examples of student work:

In Math this week, we have been looking at different ways to make the number 10. To go along with our study of The Mitten by Jan Brett, students have been exploring number patterns found within the story.

We started off by looking at how many feet each animal has in the story:

Owl has 2 feet, every other animal has 4!

Then, students were given the following problem to solve:

Baba makes 10 mittens for the animals feet to keep them warm. Which animals can have the mittens?

Here are some student examples for how they solved this problem! Some students wanted an extra challenge so they tried a higher number of mittens like 14 or 16.

Did you know you can comment on Blog posts? I'd love to see who has been checking in.

Have a wonderful evening!
