WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN!

Hello my kindergarten friends. My name is Ms. McCowan! In the picture below I am snuggling with my pet Tundra. I am looking forward to meeting you this week in your Kindergarten staggered entry group. The first day of school is such an important day. We know you are equal parts EXCITED and nerVouS! First times are always like that but they are soooooooo worth it. We are going to have ooooooodddles of fun learning together. We can't wait to meet you!

PARENT CORNER
(The place for updates to your questions and information items)

Check out the school website for general and information that is specific to Cambrian Heights School or Kindergarten. We will also connect with you in the next week or so by phone to say hello and get to know you just a little more from a distance. The purpose of this first call will be to make sure we have any important information that we need to know about your child. Conversations about your child's learning will follow at a later date.

Thank you for your patience awaiting your call as I reach out to both the morning and afternoon classes.  For now, everything you need to know will be shared through School Messenger or on our classroom blog. If you have not recieved a School Messenger this year you can sign up through your MY CBE Account. Bookmark this blog page for easy access to the regular updates that will be posted here.

Just in case you missed it, here is the first information you need to know

Here are a few suggestions to help make back-to-school go smoothly:

  • Begin a good sleep schedule before the first day of school. Eat a good breakfast.
  • Practice hand washing and hand sanitizing at home. Students may bring a small personal hand sanitizer bottle for their desk. Please be sure to label it with your child’s name. Please avoid products with strong scents. We also have sanitizer here.
  • If your child is able to wear a mask, practice wearing it, storing it, and taking it on and off safely (i.e. Using hand sanitizer, putting it in a clean place when not wearing it)
  • Bring a backpack that can hold as much of your child’s outdoor clothing as possible, and practice packing and unpacking the bag. Coat hook access will be limited.
  • For days with good weather, wear shoes that can remain on all day, and are good for physical activity (runners vs dress shoes).
  • There will be more learning outside this fall, so please bring hats and consider putting on sunscreen at home before school.
  • Try to bring snacks that are healthy, easy to open, and can be eaten in a short time. Remind your child, that at school, we do not share food.
  • Please do not send toys, athletic equipment, or extra school supplies from home. We have individual, cleanable pencil boxes for each student with all of the supplies they need.
  • We suggest bringing a water bottle that is full of water from home. Please make sure it is sealed tightly! Freezing it can help prevent spills in the backpack. Practice using it at home first.
  • If your child takes the bus, please make sure they know the bus and stop. You might write this information on a card and keep it in the backpack.

Thank you, for all your support! We know things will look different at school this year. At Cambrian Heights, we know how important it will be to communicate with each other so that we can work together for a successful school re-entry! Please reach out if you have any questions at all.

Can't wait to meet you all!

Ms. McCowan
